Sautéed Mushrooms
Ingredients:
1 lb. Fresh White Mushrooms
3 Tablespoons Butter or Margarine
1/2 Cup Chopped Onions
1 Teaspoon Soy Sauce
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
2 Teaspoon Sugar or 1 Packet of Equal
1/2 Teaspoon Basil
1/4 Cup Cooking or Regular Sherry (optional)
In a large skillet on low heat melt butter or margarine . Add chopped onions, stir till coated, cover and simmer till onions appears glassy or transparent (5 min) uncover, add sliced mushrooms and stir till coated with margarine and onion. Cover and simmer till moisture releases from the mushrooms, stirring occasionally and adding margarine if necessary (5 min or so).
Then add soy sauce, salt, pepper, sugar and sherry. Add basil, if dried. (If fresh add one tablespoon chopped right before serving and then stir in.) Mix & stir thoroughly, cover and simmer 15-20 more minutes. Flavor will intensify and sauce will thicken. Serve over steaks, burgers or rice or as a side dish.
serves 6-8. Awesomely delicious!
